PASTOR  JOHN DORE JR.
Founder and Current Pastor of
His Courts of Praise Church

About me: I'm a New Orleans native, grew up mostly in Covington, LA and have been married 34 years to Sharon Dore. We share two adult children Shannon and Christina, along with our two dogs, Brutus and Isabel.

When did you become a Christian? On 23 August 1975, I became a born-again Christian.

Was there anything that helped you decide to pursue the path that you're on today?

Many things led to my path today, but it really started to come to fruition when I decided to serve as Youth Pastor at Living Word Assembly in Lacombe, LA, which then led me to hold a weekly Bible Study in our home. Years later, in 2001, I was ordained into the ministry by Faith, Hope, and Charity Baptist Church located in Velna, LA.

What made you decide to start His Courts of Praise Church (HCOP)?

Between 2000 - 2002, we would go back to Faith, Hope, and Charity Church in Velna, LA every fourth Sunday and would minister to the church congregation. During this time, the idea was birthed out of our home Bible Study and was heavy on my heart for a long-time. We felt like God was leading us to be in the Town of Abita and in 2002, HCOP was founded.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that ...

The bible is inspired by the Spirit of God, it is infallible and is applicable in every way, for mankind.

(2 Pet 1:20-21; 2 Tim 3:16-17)

There is one God, who is eternal Spirit. (Who reigns throughout eternity, in the person of the Father, the person of the Son, and in the person of the Holy Spirit).  (1Jo 5:7; Jo 10:30; Jo 14:16-17; Matt 28:19)

Jesus Christ the only begotten, was born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit, lived as a man, without sin;  He was crucified, spent three days in the grave, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and

sits at the right hand of the Father, ever making intercession for us.

(Jo 1:14; Luke 1:28-36; Acts 1:9-11; Heb 4:14-16)

Jesus Christ is and was co-eternal with the Father from the beginning.  (Jo 1:1; Col 1:15-18)

Salvation can only be obtained through faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement.

There is no other way to heaven.

(Jo 14:6, 1Tim 1:15; 1Pet 1:18-19 Eph 2: 8-9)

Mankind is degenerate and in need of a Savior.  (Rom 3:23)

Man must repent of his sins and accept the Lord Jesus as His Lord and Savior in order to obtain eternal life.

(Acts 2:37-38; Rom 10:9-17)

A repented life is a life of Holiness and Thankfulness.  (Heb 12:14, Matt 5:8, Psa 34:14)

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit ensues Salvation and is accompanied with

the evidence of Speaking in Tongues.

(Lu 11:9-13, Acts 2:1-4, 38-39; 8:14-17; 10:44-46; 19:1-6; Mk 16:15)

There are 2 ordinances commanded by our Lord.

I.  Water Baptism (by immersion) in the name of Jesus after the examples of the apostles.

(Mk 16:16; Acts 2:38; 8:16;10:48; 19:5, Gal 3:27; Rom 6:1-5)

II. Communion (by the taking of the elements, the bread and the cup).

(1Cor 11:20-26; Mat 26: 26-30)

Divine Healing is a provision of the Atonement and can be obtained through faith and prayer. (Isaiah 53:1-5; 1Pet 2:23; Mk 11:24; 9:23; Ja 5:15; Mat 21:22)

The Church was and is established by our Lord, and is necessary for teaching, fellowship, and all of its members should be actively participating.  (Heb 10:25; 2Tim 2:15; Acts 2:42-47; John 4:20-24; 1Cor 12:12-28)

The second coming of Christ is inevitable and just as He has ascended to heaven, so shall He return.

(Acts 1:11; Mk 13:26; 2Thes 1:10)

When the Resurrection of the righteous occurs they will receive eternal rest and blessedness and when the Resurrection of the unrighteous occurs they will receive eternal torment.

(2Thes 1:7-9; Rev 14:13; Rev 20:10-15)
